We are looking for a talented hands-on electronics engineer to join our client’s very special business. This is an exciting time to be joining this world leading wildlife tracking sales, engineering, and manufacturing team. Based local, impacting global. You will be working from their Hawke’s Bay operation, whilst working closely with the Canadian parent company. It’s a great place to work; a really friendly crew, and a well-funded business on a continuous and sustained growth path.
This will be perfect for those with five plus years experience and relevant electronics, mechatronics or electrical engineering qualifications. It may also be really well suited to a seasoned engineer wanting a fresh new challenge.
This is a very clever business - the technology you will be working with enables researchers across the globe to track wildlife of all shapes and sizes. Our client specialises in manufacturing devices capable of tracking avian, freshwater, marine and terrestrial species. Their Radio, Acoustic, Archival, GPS and Satellite instruments deployed on animals throughout the world provide insight to animal behaviour, and how and where they spend their lives.
This is a proactive, solutions focused role. You will be a pivotal link, providing technical support to R&D engineers, the production team, customers, and sales. Your days will be comprised of a range of hands-on electronic engineering tasks, fault finding, testing and prototyping, developing and writing production documentation, streamlining and improving manufacturing processes. A soldering iron will feel as comfortable in your hand as a ball point pen.
To be successful here, you must be competent in electronic circuit design and testing, production processes, handling bills of materials, work instructions, and fault and root cause analysis. There is a great deal of communication required in this role. You will be a key figure in building relationships between the local and global members of Lotek family and must have excellent command of the English language (written and spoken).
